Space among eucalypt open forest in a quiet semi-rural neighbourhood. Easy access to local amenities and tourist highlights. 43m above sea level the area sustains many birds, wallabies, koalas, bush-turkeys, possums, water dragons, echidnas and is a very important conservation area. Currumbin Creek flows through the suburb from the south-west (Currumbin Valley) towards the north (Palm Beach and Currumbin) where it enters the Coral Sea. Currumbin Beach was named Australia’s cleanest beach in 2013 and is a short 7 minute drive away. Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is nearby as well as Currumbin Rock Pools, Elephant Rock, Cougal Cascades, Balter Brewing Company, Freeman’s Organic Farm (check if open) , Superbee Honeyworld, Surf World Gold Coast, Sanctuary Markets and Currumbin Alley Surf School. The name Currumbin is from the Bundjalung language (Ngaraangbal dialect), which means either high or high trees or may be a corruption of kurrohmin meaning kangaroo. Campers must be fully self contained with their own camping toilet. They hope to have a composting toilet available soon. Leashed small dogs are accepted.
