LOCAL TRAVELLERS

The City of Gold Coast encourages all Gold Coast residents and visitors to leave the car at home and make active travel part of their daily routine. The program promotes and encourages active and healthy forms of transport including walking, cycling, carpooling and public transport. Walking, cycling catching public transport and carpooling are great ways to actively travel in our city.

Throughout the Gold Coast you will find electric assist bike rentals, Lime-E. Download the Lime app to locate the closest Lime-E to you, scan the QR code to unlock it and cycle your way to Cooly Rocks On. You can learn more about Lime-E bikes here.

There are multiple bus routes travelling to Coolangatta from all directions of the Gold Coast and Northern NSW.

If you are travelling from Northern Gold Coast or Brisbane regions you can transfer from train to the G:link (Gold Coast Light Rail) at Helensvale Station.

We recommend departing the G:link at the Broadbeach South Station, walking to Station’s Stop A, and catching the 700 Bus to Griffith Street, Coolangatta – the heart of Cooly Rocks On.

With hundreds of cars lining the streets of Coolangatta during the festival, local road closures will occur during Cooly Rocks On 2023 in and around the Festival Precinct. As such, parking in the surrounding areas of Coolangatta and Tweed Heads will be limited.

Where possible, we recommend that you plan to walk, cycle, carpool or use public transport to get to Cooly Rocks On.

There are multiple public transport options, with bus, tram and train routes travelling to Coolangatta from all directions of the Gold Coast. We recommend that you ‘Park and Ride’ when travelling to Coolangatta by utilising one of the Gold Coast’s many car parks and catching public transport to the festival.

INTERSTATE AND OVERSEAS TRAVEL

The Gold Coast Airport is located only a couple kilometres away from Coolangatta, with a drive of fewer than 5 minutes. A range of carriers fly directly into Gold Coast Airport (OOL) including Jetstar, Virgin Australia, Tigerair, Qantas, Jetgo, Air New Zealand, SCOOT, Air Asia X and Hong Kong Airlines.

Greyhound and Murray’s coaches both operate from the travel to an extensive network of destinations throughout Australia. For further information, contact Greyhound on 1300 473946 and Murray’s on 13 22 51.

TransLink’s integrated bus, train and tram network connects you to places all over the Gold Coast. Grab a go card from various outlets for cheap fares, easy transfers and convenient top-ups. All Gold Coast busway stations and G:link tram platforms are fully accessible, with G:Link platforms each providing boarding assistance points and allocated space for mobility devices on board.
