2022 Program revealed

As the countdown begins for Cooly Rocks On, the full festival program has been released with something on offer for everyone. Whether you have an appreciation of classic cars, love watching live music or enjoy celebrating and paying homage to the lifestyle of years gone by, Cooly Rocks On 2022 has it all.

As Cooly Rocks On gets set to descend on Coolangatta on the Gold Coast from 8-12 June, in what is a truly spectacular time of the year, the festival will showcase the very best of the motors, music and lifestyle of yesteryear across five action-packed days.

A highlight of this year’s program will be The Johnny O’Keefe Story starring Vicky O’Keefe,  which will headline Saturday night in the Elvis Precinct.

“I haven’t played at Cooly Rocks On for several years and I cannot wait,” said Vicky O’Keefe, fresh from performing on a cruise in the United States. “I’ve done many shows at the festival, over past years.  Cooly Rocks  has a fantastic vibe and everyone is there for a good time.

“This year’s show  The Johnny O’Keefe Story is a tribute to my Dad. Performing his hits on stage, particularly the duet with him, will not only be emotional for me, but for my Dad’s many fans. I am so looking forward to presenting The Johnny O’Keefe Story in the marquee at this year’s Cooly Rocks On.”

In 2022, the festival will offer a range of free live entertainment options from rock ‘n’ roll, rockabilly and swing performances across a variety of outdoor stages and venues, along with a limited number of ticketed experiences, including the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist (UETA) Contest.

Cooly Rocks On is one of only ten official Elvis Presley Enterprises Contests throughout the world, with an exceptionally high calibre of Elvis Tribute Artists from Australia and New Zealand competing in a bid to take out the highly acclaimed title.

Whether you have a love for The King, Elvis Presley or are keen to check out something you don’t see every day – this one is for you!

More than just music, Cooly Rocks On will see over 1,000 vehicles head to the Coolangatta precinct as car enthusiasts show their most prized possessions off. The annual Show ‘N’ Shine is a sight not to be missed and is an absolute must when visiting Cooly Rocks On. Attendees can get up close and personal as they admire the vehicles of yesteryear, including classics, customs, hot rods, and muscle cars just to name a few.

Plus, kustom culture enthusiasts will rejoice at the return of Kustomville – a precinct dedicated to showcasing the best lowbrow art, kustom bombs, sleds, hot rods, and coupes from across Australia and beyond.

Once you’ve finished checking out the vast array of cars on display, festival goers will have the opportunity to dance the night away at the Harvest Moon Swing Ball, a 1940s inspired shindig. For those wanting to try their hand at dancing there’ll be Dance Workshops across five days on the festival’s doorstop at The Strand.

Celebrating the fashion and style of eras gone by, the 2022 Cooly Rocks On Pin-up Pageant combines the traditional classic and rockabilly styles that attendees have come to know and love over the years. This year will see renowned rockabilly/rock ‘n’ roll artist, Ella Fontaine hosting the pageant, helping to guide 12 Pin-up finalists through the three rounds of competition.
